Background
In bespoke tailoring, the post-deposit experience has long been broken: clients face zero visibility into production, repetitive remeasurements, and manual status checks across chat apps. Existing tools manage billing and point-of-sale for the tailor, ignoring client-side friction. The Styches self-service portal was designed from the ground up to replace manual follow-ups with automated production milestones, saved digital measurement profiles, and direct international logistics.
Problem
The Waiting Anxiety
Clients face constant anxiety over unknown garment statuses and tight even deadlines.
The Messy Communication System
Chasing tailors across informal messaging channels is time-consuming and inefficient due to schedules and time-zone gaps.
The Logistics Disconnect
Customers have no structured way to manage hands-on requirements like booking atelier fittings, updating body profiles, or tracking deliveries, creating constant friction between the tailor and the customers.
Proposed Solution
Automated Progress Tracking
Replaced manual status requests with an automated 5-stage progress pipeline:
Customers can monitor production status independently, preserving transparency and peace of mind without requiring conversational check-ins.
Flexible Multi-Method Measurement System
Designed a centralized measurement system supporting three distinct entry points: manual step-by-step entry, in-person atelier booking, or camera-based body scanning. Captured measurements are stored in reusable profiles, eliminating redundant measuring sessions for future orders.
Self-Service Fittings & Fulfillment
Consolidated all physical logistics into a single self-serve flow. Clients can schedule or modify their fitting appointments and track order deliveries directly inside the app without back-and-forth calls.
Execution & Validation
Service Architecture
Replaced the mid-production black hole—where anxiety previously peaked—with continuous, proactive milestone notifications.

Execution & Validation
Users split at launch between full account authentication and one-tap guest tracking via order token.

Execution & Validation
Wireframing & Layout
Mapped the critical paths across all five main tabs to establish information hierarchy and validate core task flows before moving into visual design.

Usability Testing & Refinement
Testing early layouts revealed three friction points that directly reshaped the final app:
- •Merged active, completed, and ready-to-ship garments into a single Orders tab instead of separating them into different menus.
- •Brought current and saved measurement profiles into a single view, removing the need to dig through profile history.
- •Embedded required next steps—like booking fittings or submitting measurements—directly onto each order card rather than relying solely on dashboard alerts.
Polished UI
Mobile App Experience
Gives clients glanceable milestone tracking on the go, with instant token-based access so they can track orders without creating an account.

Polished UI
Cross-Platform Desktop Dashboard
Adapted the mobile experience into a web app, giving clients side-by-side visibility over active orders, fittings, and measurements.

Impact
Automating milestone tracking eliminates endless customer follow-ups via calls and social media, cutting administrative work so tailors can focus on garment production. By turning an anxious waiting period into a transparent, self-serve experience, we build deep client trust that directly drives repeat business.
Key Takeaways
Designing for both local and international clients highlighted the importance of proactive status updates. In bespoke services, post-purchase UX is where real client trust is built—long after the order is placed.
